It is a well-known fact that beef-farming is a major contributor of methane emissions. A modelling study has recently shown that replacing 20% of global beef consumption with alternative meat substitutes can halve deforestation and carbon emissions in the next 30 years. The finds come as a response to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warning that humanity is nowhere near to limiting global warming. The goal was to achieve 1.5 ÂșC above pre-industrial levels.
