We've all heard the saying "Liar, liar, pants on fire," but it turns out that detecting deception isn't as easy as we might think. In fact, research shows that our ability to catch a liar is often no better than flipping a coin. But, wait – there's more! It seems that the key to deception detection might have less to do with our detective skills and more to do with the characteristics of the person doing the lying. One study even found that the way a liar behaves can account for a whopping 98% of the difference in detection accuracy.
