Stopping Building Collapses: New Isolation Method

Catastrophic building collapses often start from small local failures, leading to a domino effect that results in total structural failure. Traditional design methods enhance the connectivity between building parts to redistribute loads if a component fails. However, this increased connectivity can also mean that when one part collapses, it might pull down other sections. This article introduces a new design approach to halt such propagation and enhance building resilience.
